Sanjha Chulha sits comfortably on Lawrence Road, just opposite BBK DAV College, making it a convenient stop for locals and visitors looking to sample Punjabi and North Indian flavors without straying far from the city buzz. This full-service restaurant specializes in traditional vegetarian dishes, with a particular nod to Amritsar’s culinary heritage, making it a reliable choice for a hearty breakfast or family meal.

The atmosphere here leans toward practical and welcoming rather than flashy. It offers air-conditioned seating, which comes as a relief during Amritsar’s warmer months, and the space is clean and functional—qualities that suit families or groups looking for a comfortable, no-fuss dining experience. You’ll find the pace casual, with enough background activity to remind you that you’re in a well-frequented spot in a lively neighborhood.

What stands out most is the food. The restaurant is known for its Amritsari Kulcha Naan, Aloo Kulcha, and Ambarsari Paratha—dishes that reflect local tastes and are prepared consistently well. The kulchas have a doughy, slightly chewy texture with fillings that balance spice and tang, paired particularly well with butter or chutneys. Lassi, especially in its sweet versions, is often recommended as a cooling, lightly sweet complement to the savory fare.

Beyond breads and thalis, Sanjha Chulha offers an extensive vegetarian menu ranging from various paneer-based curries to soups and Chinese-inspired noodles, giving diners a wider choice if they want to stray from traditional Punjabi fare. Portion sizes are generous, and prices remain accessible, appealing to families and students nearby.

The staff tends to be friendly and attentive, though English proficiency is limited, so basic communication works best. This doesn’t detract from the experience but rather adds to the local flavor of the place. The kitchen and service areas maintain visible cleanliness, which helps the restaurant stand out on a bustling food circuit like Lawrence Road.

This spot is best for anyone wanting a straightforward, filling vegetarian meal rooted in Punjabi home-style cooking, especially during breakfast or lunch hours when the dishes are freshly made and the kitchen is buzzing. Families and groups looking for a practical option with air conditioning and a quiet side-street refuge will find Sanjha Chulha fits the bill nicely without the pretense of more touristy venues.

#amritsardiaries My top choice for Amritsari Kulcha remains Monu Kulcha Hut but that's situated almost at outskirts of city and is extremely crowded. Besides seating isn't that upmarket for family visits.... so my second best choice as always remains Sanjha Chulha Amritsar situated at the most happening Lawrance Road area. It has air-conditioned seating with reasonably acceptable hygiene and overall good package with excellent fast service. We ordered our usual favourite Aaloo Pyaaz Kulcha and additionally ordered Mix Kulcha. Both are flawlessly perfect with flaky and crisp texture. Filling is adequate and flavourful. Channa are mild and well cooked without any excessive addition of Soda Bicarbonate. Chatani is well balanced without being over spicy. It's a great kulcha overall and is highly recommended. We also got few Kulcha packed for Delhi and kept enjoying them for next few days by reheating them. Not as good as the freshly served ones but still better than all other options available in Delhi NCR. The last 3 pictures are of reheated kulchas clicked back home at Delhi. Tips to follow if you plan to get Amritsari Kulcha packed.... ▪︎Ask vendor not to apply butter on top ▪︎Cool kulcha and channa in open condition to reach room temperature before sealed packing them ▪︎Avoid packing Chatani for being liquidy... it tends to leak and gets spoiled very quickly ▪︎Store kulcha and chana in refrigerator (Not freezer) ▪︎Reheating tip... heat each kulcha for 20 seconds each side in microwave followed by roasting on each side over low gas flame. ▪︎Apply butter on top after completion of reheating ▪︎Heat channa in microwave Bon Appétit

Clean and delicious restaurant! Seeking refuge from the heat and the busy streets of Amritsar, we found this small, but stylish restaurant in side street to lawrence road. The staff was very friendly, but only a couple of people were able to communicate in english. We had some very delicious lunch in a nicely ventilated restaurant. Delicious food Very affordable Clean kitchen and restaurant Friendly and welcoming staff Only Cash
